1. The Manchester Town Hall
This amazingly intricate Gothic church is the work of Alfred Waterhouse. Tours of the Town Hall are scheduled every Saturday starting with 2 pm, and you can visit the inside or simply enjoy the surroundings.

3. Castlefield Urban Heritage Park
This park should be visited if you would like to see the oldest railway station in the entire world. There are also quite a few restaurants in the area, so you will not get bored. The park is quite large, so make sure to start your visit in the morning.
4. Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist
The medieval construction is not very large, but is packed with history. You can tour the building and see the ceiling architecture, as well as the Fire Window.
5. Affleck’s Palace
Affleck's Palace is located in the Northern Quarter of the city. Here you will find everything under the sun, from trendy rugs to amazing pieces of art. You should take a full afternoon off and do some serious shopping in the store. The area is fashionable enough, so you will also find bars nearby.
